Choosing the right engagement ring can be a tricky task. There’s a lot of things to consider:

  • What sort of stone should you go for?

When it comes to traditional engagement rings, diamonds are the most popular choice of stone, however diamonds aren’t for everyone. There are many alternative gemstones that could feature in your engagement ring, these could include: Sapphire, Rubys, Amethysts , Garnets and Pearls.

  • What style would suit your partner?

There a four main styles of cut when it comes to engagement rings: Solitaire, Trilogy, Cluster and Halo. As a general rule, smaller rings are better suited for younger people, whilst larger rings look better on mature hands.

  • What metal should you choose?

Traditionally white or yellow gold have been the traditional metal of choice for an engagement ring. However over the recent years more durable metal such as platinum and titanium are becoming more popular.

  • Should you choose something “off the shelf” or create something bespoke?

Whilst there are many great options in store you may opt to design something bespoke, but who should you go to? And how do you get the ball rolling with the design process?

It’s an important decision, so feeling confident in your choice is crucial.

Four Of The 'Most Asked Questions' Regarding Engagement Rings

  • q-iconWhat are the 4C's?

When selecting the perfect diamond there are four different elements to consider; cut, colour, clarity and carat. These elements all add up to the end value and beauty of the diamond, so it’s important you understand what it is your looking for.

  • q-iconHow much should I spend?

Spend whatever feels right to you, we suggest you don’t spend more than you can comfortably afford as you don’t want to start married life in debt! There are many engagement rings at different price points and remember if you can’t find one you like you can always get a bespoke ring made, just ensure you tell the jeweller your budget first.

  • q-iconCan I buy an engagement ring online?

Although there are plenty of great online retailers, we suggest you look in a shop first. You can’t always guarantee what your buying online, especially if you don’t buy from a specialist. If you do buy online make sure  the seller is reputable and you follow the four C’s to ensure you get a high quality ring.

  • q-iconHow do I know what ring size I should get?

We suggest asking a friend or relative if they know your partners ring size, if this is not an option, we suggest bringing in a current ring your partner wheres often and your jewellery should be able to measure the ring for you. Remember to do this discreetly as you don’t want to let the cat out the bag.
